SwedenWesterly wind gusts of nearly 115 kilometres an hour swept into Sweden early on Saturday morning as a powerful storm slammed Sweden’s west coast.
Around 8,000 households, mostly in western Sweden, had lost power.
Winter storm Gudrun from 2004 ranks as the worst storm of the last decade, while 2007’s Per comes in at number two. Officials have yet to name the current storm.
Winds gusts of 97 kilometers per hour battered the west coast archipelago near Bohuslän, with overall wind speeds averaging about 82 kilometers per hour.
